About Shoot Boxing

Shoot Boxing was founded in 1985 by the former Kick Boxing Japan, Welter Class Champion, Mr. Takeshi Caesar, and it is a standing mixed martial arts admitting punches, kicks, throwing techniques and standing submissions.

 

Same as "samurai’s fighting" where it is not allowed to attack a fell down opponent, any kind of offense and defense on the ground is not admitted. The rules are to fight usually on the standing position, with no deadlock situations from clinches or ground techniques, and the style is distinguished by speedy fights with non-stops. Shoot Boxing is the new martial art that is spreading out the Samurai Spirit to all over the world.


―PROFESSIONAL-

The official professional fights are divided into weight classes and with a system of 5 rounds, 3 minutes each round. Same as Boxing, fighters must wear 6 to 10 ounces gloves according to weight class, and victory is decided by "KO" from standing or throwing techniques, "Give up" from standing submissions, or decision, counting the striking techniques "Hit points", throwing techniques "Shoot points", standing submission "Catch points". Adopting a must system rule, draw decision is excluded, and until the victory is clear, fighters must fight extra rounds.


And the costumes, they are characterized by long spats with an outstanding mobility and function that is found in rush guard pants used by swimmers and wrestlers.

 

―EVENT―

A total of 6 to7 events are held yearly in the area of Tokyo, and also once in 2 years it is being held the World Tournament "S-cup" called the Shoot Boxing World Cup. Until now, Hiromu Yoshitaka, Rayen Simson, Andy Souwer, Kenichi Ogata got the title of Champion. 
Besides, every 2 years the Martial Arts Festival "GROUND ZERO" series are also held, gathering many martial arts in just one event. Fighters who do not have a chance to be in the same ring, but here they compete to each other and show your best performance; many famous fighters have participated in this event.

 

Also, including United States and Australia, events are being held in 10 overseas countries, and from 2008, preliminary S-cup fights will take place in Holland and Brazil.


―AMATEUR-

The amateur organization has also started since the association’s foundation. The "All Japan Amateur Championship" is being held 5 to 6 times a year in the Kanto, Tokai and Kansai area. This amateur championship that takes into consideration fighter’s safety receives every time about 100 applications and many fighters became to be a star participating in this event.
In 2000, the "Light Amateur" class was created for the beginners. The soft contact rules were adopted to give more importance to the safety aspect, so the fighters have to wear protectors in the face and body.  The "All Japan Light Amateur Championship" is being held 3 to 4 times a year, with very young people and also women participating in the event.


―LADY‘S―

Same as amateur class, lady’s professional class (lady’s class) has being developed since the foundation, producing a number of Japanese Champions and World Champions as an old established academy.


―LICENSE―

There is a license issued for those who participate and win, or get the stipulated number of prizes in the Kanto, Tokai and Kansai Amateur Championship events. From amateur to professional, a structure like pyramid is firmly composed.
